Established in 2018 as a city department, MSB is a partnership between the City of Bennettsville & Main Street South Carolina, a Coordinating Program of Main Street America. MSB was formed to help foster a more vibrant, healthy downtown & continue to make Bennettsville a better place to live, work, play & come together as a community. Downtown Bennettsville is important because it is the "heart and soul" of our community. If a city does not have a "healthy" downtown, it does not have a healthy community!

The Main Street program challenges communities to set their own destinies & create roadmaps for locally owned & driven prosperity by providing technical support & training.  Our traditional downtown business districts need ongoing strategic historic preservation-based economic development & revitalization to keep them diverse, vibrant centers of commerce & community. Main Street Bennettsville can empower City residents & assist them in gaining knowledge, skills, tools, & organizational structure necessary to transform our local economy, leverage leadership, build public-private partnerships, & improve the overall quality of life.

Our traditional downtown business districts need ongoing strategic historic preservation-based economic development & revitalization to keep them diverse, vibrant centers of commerce & community. Bennettsville must maintain & continue to develop a robust economic base in the downtown to encourage the retention of existing businesses & the establishment of new enterprises as well as develop additional areas for entertainment & recreation. Main Street Bennettsville is a member of Main Street South Carolina, the state network for downtown development. The program strives to organize community partners, promote and celebrate downtown’s quality of life and historic character, promote and enhance public art and public spaces, conduct image assessments, utilize all economic development resources, and promote/recruit new businesses for the downtown historic overlay district.
