Bennettsville, SC – The City of Bennettsville has officially begun the next phase of its water system improvements funded through a $10 million grant from the South Carolina Rural Infrastructure Authority’s Statewide Capital Improvement Program (SCIIP). City personnel recently met with project engineers and contractors for a kickoff meeting to begin the installation of automated water meters across the city.
Over the next 16 weeks, installation crews from HST will be working throughout Bennettsville to replace existing meters with new automated meters designed to improve system efficiency, accuracy, and service delivery for residents.
As installation moves through neighborhoods, HST team members will be wearing reflective safety vests and will go door-to-door to notify residents prior to installation. The meter installation process typically takes 10 to 20 minutes to complete. After installation, residents will receive a door hanger with follow-up information and a contact number for HST should they have questions.
The automated meter system is part of the City’s broader effort to modernize its water infrastructure, improve system monitoring, and provide more reliable service for customers throughout Bennettsville.
The City of Bennettsville appreciates the cooperation of residents as these improvements are completed and remains committed to making long-term investments that strengthen the community’s infrastructure and quality of life.
