The City of Bennettsville Police Department has an opening for a Police Sergeant.  Applicant should have any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school.  S.C. Class I Officer Certification is required.  Basic Instructor Certification with specific skills is preferred. Applicant should have at least 3 years of Police Officer experience and at least 2 years of supervisory experience.

 

Under general supervision, applicant will assume all responsibilities of the patrol officer including, but limited to, responding to calls for service, providing traffic enforcement, conducting property checks, performing transport of prisoners, prosecuting cases in municipal and high courts, serving arrest and bench warrants, participating in community outreach programs.  Ensures that officers’ certification remains updated, schedule training for department officers.  Performs all functions while supervising subordinates to assure quality of service and to abide by departmental policy.

 

Possession of an appropriate driver’s license valid in the State of South Carolina is required.
